Is It Enough?

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
John 3:16 (NIV)

It’s almost Christmas and I’m waking up with the question that haunts me every year: Did I do enough? Did I send enough Christmas cards this year? Did I bake enough cookies? Did I pick the right gifts, because it’s too late to change my mind now. And then I stop and remember…

It doesn’t matter. We can send more, bake more, shop more, wrap more, but even then I’m sure I would have the same question: Is it enough?

For I know my haunting question is really so much deeper. It’s not enough stuff; it’s did we remember the true meaning of the season in all that we did?

I don’t know the answer to that question, but I do know it’s never been about if we did enough, because Christmas is about God giving us more than we could ever ask for in the birth of his Son, our Savior. It’s the gift that covers over every area we fall short. All we have to do is accept and believe.

It is his love for us that propels us to do all we do during this Christmas season.
