Year-Round Celebration

They followed the daily discipline of worship in the Temple followed by meals at home, every meal a celebration, exuberant and joyful, as they praised God.
Acts 2:46 (The Message)

Christmas has always been my favorite time of the year! I love the excitement on the faces of my grandkids, the family gatherings, the gift giving, the decorations, the food, and most of all, the reason for the season, celebrating the birth of the Christ child. There is so much happiness and joy during this season, I find that I want Christmas to last year-round!

Then December 26 comes, and the excitement dies back a little. Soon there will be the repacking of ornaments, the gift returns, the separation from family, and the “return to normal.”

My friend, I have great news! Christmas can last year-round! It’s the way we approach December 26th that changes our attitude and perception. Christ never changes. He is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow. Let’s make up our minds today to let Christmas continue throughout the year in our hearts.

Jesus – Keep our eyes fixed on the Savior of the world. He is the gift that was sent to us by a loving Father.

O Others – Look for the needs of others. Be the blessing that someone may need. Be willing to step out of your comfort zone to further God’s kingdom here on earth.

Y You – You take the action step to be intentional about keeping Christmas alive in your heart throughout the year through worship, praise and prayer.

Reflect

  1. Who comes to mind that you can pray for during this holiday season that might be struggling with finding joy?
  2. What specific ways can you be intentional about keeping the Christmas spirit alive in your heart year-round?

Share Your Blessing

  1. Write a thank you note to someone today, for something they’ve done for you that didn’t include material items. This small act will not only make them smile, but will be a reminder to you of the many blessings you have received through others.
  2. Surprise someone by adding $20 of gas in their tank, or sending them a gas gift card this Christmas season.
